Romans 3 study

As we saw in the previous chapter, Paul is showing both the religious Jews and the Gentile moralist that neither of them have a leg to stand on. The great thing about this book is how Paul is showing us exactly how God sees us.

Now as a side note, this book doesn’t just leave us off at how terrible we are. The good news is going to come. But for now we are looking at how much we really need God.

Have you ever been pulled over and thought, man that guy that passed me earlier had to be doing twice my speed, this cop has a lot of nerve pulling me over for only doing 15 over. It sounds like a good argument at the time but truthfully you are just as guilty as the other guy, he just got away with it for the moment.

What Paul is saying here is that both the Jews and the gentiles are equally condemned, though they are pointing the finger at the other guy. If that’s not bad enough Paul tells us that there is none righteous no not one.

So what can we do? If no one is righteous then how can anyone be saved? That question begins to get answered at the end of this chapter when Paul introduces Christ. You see God did not create us to die but to live. And so for that to happen we must become blameless as Christ was blameless. For man this would be impossible but for God nothing is impossible.

As we read on Paul will add details to this beautiful painting he is creating for us. Just remember the rescue is coming. On to chapter 4…..
